For over 30 years Jazz at the Sandbar, continues to fulfill its mission of providing direct mentoring by acclaimed jazz masters through concert performances with ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã jazz studies students. These experiential learning opportunities are an integral part of the Jazz Studies program, bringing to life the ideas and concepts shared in the classroom by the program’s exceptional faculty. Furthermore, Jazz at the Sandbar provides the extended ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã community with the rare opportunity to see and hear world-class artists in an intimate setting, while observing the development of the next generation of jazz presenters and performers.

Celebrating 25 years of performances, ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã’s School of the Arts, departments of Music and Arts Administration collaborate to bring this award-winning series to the Lakefront campus each year. The programing showcases acclaimed classical artists from around the world, connecting the New Orleans community and ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã students to artists and performances in an accessible format. As part of its community outreach mission, our visiting artists connect with budding musicians to provide invaluable expertise and guidance in master class settings with both university, secondary, and primary level students.

Join us for our first of many "ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã Limelight Thursday at the Amphitheater" FREE concerts. This new community music series will feature the incredible talent of our ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã Alumni and Music faculty. We are very proud to show off these musicians and well-known bands as part of our Privateer and New Orleans community. Bring a chair or a blanket. Make a picnic basket and enjoy the music at our outdoor campus amphitheater located just outside of the Performing Arts Center and Library Buildings.
